Cost Account Officer
Scope of Job
Responsible for budgeting, cost management, performance evaluation and asset management.
Essential Job Tasks
Cost management
Inventory:
- Enters monthly inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Implement maintenance of cost accounting system, documentation, and records
- Review and document inventory and material purchases
- Maintains perpetual inventory
- Manages standard cost system
Fixed Assets:
- Monitor system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of fixed assets.
- Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
- Assign tag numbers to fixed assets.
- Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
- Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and the accumulated depreciation.
- Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets
- Conduct periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
Reporting
· Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
· Participate in the representation of any statutory audits for the company.
Key Deliverables
- Reconcile raw material receipts, issues and usage, finished products and work in progress and allocate overheads to determine the total unit cost of production.
- Co-ordinate period stocktaking of all materials and finished products and compile the report for incorporation into the final accounts management information and action.
- Reconcile monthly reports from the production unit for Technical meetings.
- Allocate service costs to production lines monthly and when necessary update the absorption rates.
- Record import purchase costing, purchase voucher and sales voucher.

Educational/Professional Qualification, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Thorough understanding of sophisticated costing system
- Newly qualified or experienced part qualified accountant ( CIMA / ACCA / ACA equivalent)
- Must have intermediate-advanced level Excel skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and communicate at all levels
- Must be a strong team player, highly motivated and able to work under pressure during peak periods.
- Experience in a commercial/manufacturing environment will be an added advantage
